The Indiana Department of Education is requiring all public schools to provide age appropriate instruction on child abuse and child sexual abuse to students in grades K-12. Liberty-Perry School Corporation will host a parent night on May 1st at 6:30 pm in the WHS Auditorium to explain what content will be shared with each age level.
We are pleased to have Kids Talk present “Staying Safe in a Digital World” and “Body Boundaries” to our students. Kids Talk has developed an research-based program for students in grades K-12 that instruct children about body safety and online safety. Our programs are customized according to the cognitive abilities of children of all ages and are based on criteria determined by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and by Gunderson National Child Protection Training Center.
Children must be provided every tool possible to protect themselves from this threat. The most important tools are knowledge and the ability to properly report inappropriate behavior and touches. If children do not feel safe in the home, school is usually their safe haven. Kids Talk wants to ensure that children receive valuable information regarding their safety and that they are given the opportunity to talk about their safety. Kids Talk team members will be on site during to speak with children if they express safety concerns.
This program will be presented to students in Liberty Perry Community Schools from May 6-9, 2019. If you do NOT want your child to participate in the Kids Talk presentation, please return the bottom portion of the letter that was sent home to your child’s classroom teacher or the front office of SMS or WHS indicating so, and an alternate learning activity will be provided. Otherwise, all children will receive this valuable lesson.
